Round
Privacy Policy
Round ("the App") is an iOS interval-timer application built for strength training, HIIT, Tabata, and circuit workouts. This policy explains how information is handled in the App.
1. Core principles
The App does not require account registration and does not display any advertising. The App does not transmit user data to any server operated by the developer. All data related to your use of the App is stored locally on your Apple devices (iPhone and Apple Watch).
2. Information stored on the device
The App stores the following information only on your iOS / watchOS device (in SwiftData / UserDefaults). It is not synced to iCloud or any other cloud service.
- Timer presets (name, Step / Set configuration, Work / Step Rest / Set Rest durations, Preparation time, accent color)
- Session history (date, duration, completed sets, preset used)
- Display settings (appearance mode, sound on/off, volume, haptics, sound ducking)
- Apple Watch integration settings (e.g., wrist-down power save)
- Onboarding state shown on first launch
The App does not collect the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA), location, contacts, calendar, photos, or other-app usage.
3. App Group / Widget storage
To populate the home-screen widget (Round Widgets), snapshots such as the following are saved to App Group UserDefaults. This region is accessed by app extensions on the same device and is not transmitted to any external server.
- Recent session aggregates (weekly / monthly session count, total time)
- Information about the currently displayed preset (name, color, configuration)
Deleting the App removes these snapshots as well.
4. Apple Watch sync (WatchConnectivity)
The App provides an Apple Watch companion ("Round Watch"). Synchronization between iPhone and Apple Watch uses Apple's WatchConnectivity framework and only occurs between devices paired to the same Apple ID. The synced information below never passes through any developer-operated server.
- iPhone → Apple Watch: timer presets, display settings, currently selected preset
- Apple Watch → iPhone: session history from sessions performed independently on Apple Watch
5. HealthKit (Apple Health) integration
The App writes workout records (HKWorkout) to Apple HealthKit only when the per-preset setting "Save to Health" is enabled. The App does not read any data from HealthKit.
- Writes to HealthKit happen only when "Save to Health" is ON for the preset used and the session has completed.
- On the first write, iOS / watchOS presents a system dialog asking permission to write to HealthKit. If permission is not granted, no data is written.
- The information written consists of: workout type (the activity type chosen on the preset), start date, end date, and duration.
- Data written to HealthKit is managed by Apple's Health app and is outside the App's control. To delete it, use the Apple Health app.
6. Notifications
The App may use local notifications (generated on-device) for purposes such as confirming Apple Watch connectivity. Notification contents are never sent off the device. Notification permission can be changed at any time in iOS Settings.
7. Purposes of use
- Display, save, and delete timers, presets, and history
- Aggregate data for widget display
- Sync presets, history, and settings between iPhone and Apple Watch
- Save workout records to Apple HealthKit (only with user authorization and per-preset setting)
- Investigate issues and improve quality (only when you contact us by email)
8. Third-party disclosure
The App does not sell or share user information with third parties for advertising. No data is transmitted to any external server operated by the developer. The only outward data flows are through Apple frameworks (WatchConnectivity / HealthKit) to your paired devices and the Apple Health app.
9. Data deletion
You can delete data in the App as follows.
- Individual presets / history: swipe to delete or use edit mode on each screen.
- Whole-app deletion: deleting Round from your iPhone removes all data the App had stored in SwiftData / UserDefaults / App Group. Data on the Apple Watch side is removed by uninstalling the Watch app or by unpairing.
- Data written to HealthKit: delete entries individually or in bulk via the Apple Health app. Deleting Round does not remove past entries written to HealthKit (per Apple's design).
10. Age restrictions
The App imposes no age restriction. However, due to the physically active nature of its use, minors should use it with parental consent.
